Копитрейдинг
Copy Trading
Copy trading is the automatic repetition of trades by experienced traders (leaders) in subscribers' accounts through an exchange or a social trading service.
What is Копитрейдинг (Copy Trading)?
Copy trading (copytrading) is a form of social trading in which a subscriber links their account to the account of a leader trader, and the platform automatically repeats their trades in proportion to a chosen amount or share of capital.
## How it works
The leader opens and closes positions in their own account. The system records each action and reproduces it in subscribers' accounts, taking into account their balance, leverage and risk settings: maximum drawdown, a limit per trade, and a stop-loss on the entire copy portfolio. A subscriber's result depends on how the copies were executed, not on the subscriber's own market forecast.
## Where it is found
Copy trading is available on crypto exchanges that offer futures and perpetual contracts, as well as in some social trading services. In fintech, similar mechanics appear in investment apps, but regulatory requirements for disclosing leaders' results are usually stricter there.
## What it affects
Key parameters include copy execution delay (slippage in a volatile market), exchange and platform fees, the share of profit the leader takes, and exit rules. A leader's high leverage is automatically transferred to subscribers and sharply increases the risk of liquidation.
## Common mistakes
Choosing a leader based only on returns over a short period, without considering drawdowns and track record. Subscribing to several leaders with similar strategies, which in practice doubles the same position. Having no risk limits and believing in guaranteed income. Public statistics may not reflect real execution conditions, so they should be checked against the timing and volume of trades.
FAQ
Is copy trading a guaranteed way to earn money?
No. Copying repeats someone else's trades, including losing ones, and does not guarantee profit. The result depends on the leader's strategy, market conditions, fees and execution delays.
How is copy trading different from signals?
With signals, the subscriber decides whether to enter a trade and at what price. With copy trading, trades are repeated automatically in the subscriber's account, which is faster but requires stricter risk limits.
How do you choose a leader to copy?
Look at a long history of results, maximum drawdown, average leverage, trading frequency and number of subscribers. Assess how the leader behaved during sharp market declines, not just growth over the last few weeks.
