Stablecoin payments infrastructure provider Yellow Card has established a direct presence in Brazil by completing its acquisition of GoMoney, a virtual asset provider based in the country. The company announced the deal in a press release dated November 4. According to the release, the acquisition closed in October, while the news was published in early November.
What Changed for Yellow Card Clients
According to the company, after the acquisition Yellow Card clients gained local collections and disbursements in Brazilian reais, including through Pix. Settlement is done in stablecoins, delivered through a locally established provider integrated with Yellow Card's treasury and liquidity services.
GoMoney's Status and Licensing
GoMoney has filed an application with the Banco Central do Brasil (BCB) for authorization to operate as a virtual asset service provider. While the application is under review, the company continues to operate under Brazil's transitional regime for virtual asset service providers, the release said. GoMoney does not yet hold full authorization, and the release does not specify a review timeline.
Yellow Card's Expansion Across Regions
Yellow Card says it supports more than 50 currencies. It recently received regulatory approvals and registrations in Canada, Switzerland, Nigeria, Ghana and Zimbabwe. In November 2025, it was reported that Yellow Card was operating in Africa and other emerging markets and moving into markets such as Brazil, India and Mexico, where demand for dollar-pegged assets is rising amid volatile currencies.
Deal Structure and Leadership
GoMoney will continue to be led by its founders and will remain a wholly owned subsidiary of Yellow Card. One of its founders, CEO Maurício Pires, said the company's use of stablecoins for cross-border payments in Brazil is similar to what Yellow Card is doing in Africa and other regions. Yellow Card co-founder and CEO Chris Maurice stressed that operating across countries requires compliance with local frameworks, local payment rails and local expertise.
