GGR and NGR

Gross gaming revenue (GGR) is total stakes minus winnings paid to players. It is the base for most gaming taxes. Net gaming revenue (NGR) is GGR after costs such as bonuses, gaming tax, payment fees and chargebacks.

There is no single legal definition of NGR: each operator lists in its affiliate terms what it deducts. Some also deduct platform or game-provider fees, others exclude tax. Use the fields above to match your contract.

RevShare

On a revenue share deal the affiliate earns a percentage of the NGR generated by the players they referred, usually 25–50%. With negative carryover, a month with negative NGR is deducted from future earnings.

FAQ

Is GGR the same as revenue?
GGR is the operator’s gaming win before costs. Bonuses, taxes and fees come out of it, so the money an operator actually keeps is much lower.
What is a typical casino hold?
It depends on the game mix: online slots typically return 94–97% to players, so GGR is often 3–6% of stakes; sports betting margins vary by market.
What is negative carryover?
A contract term that carries a negative NGR month into the next months, so the affiliate earns nothing until the loss is covered.
